There’s a Russian spy ship lurking off the  Connecticut coast.… but i’m sure they’re here just to say hi to their comrades in Washington.

We are aware of the vessel's presence," Lt. Col. Valerie Henderson, a Defense Department spokeswoman, told Business Insider on Tuesday.

"It has not entered US territorial waters," she added. "We respect freedom of navigation exercised by all nations beyond the territorial sea of a coastal state consistent with international law."

I feel safer already. Plus, it’s  30 miles away from where I live — and it can’t drive on land.

More here.

U.S. Sen. Chris Murphy tweeted Wednesday morning “Russia is acting like it has a permission slip to expand influence, test limits of reach. Questions are obvious: Does it, and if so, why?”

and the news is starting to spread:

Rep. Joe Courtney, D-Conn., a member of the House Seapower and Projection Forces Subcommittee, said the ship was spotted about 30 miles from the Naval Submarine Base New London, located in Groton, Conn. It is the Navy's primary East Coast submarine base.

So they’re not interested in little ol’ me at all!
